The Conviction
Outside of the law, there are no limits to what he will do to save his son...This is David Sloane as you've never seen him before. Determined to get Jake off the path of delinquency, Sloane calls on his old friend, police detective Tom Molia, and the two arrange for a camping trip with Jake and Molia's fifteen-year-old son, TJ. But the night before the excursion, Jake vandalizes a store with TJ as his unwitting accomplice. The boys are sentenced to six months in the county-owned wilderness detention camp, Fresh Start.

As Sloane fights the conviction against Jake, he comes to learn that there's a pervasive fear among the local townspeople that goes well beyond Judge Earl Boykin's preying upon the legal ignorance of poor parents. Meanwhile, Jake and TJ discover that the detention center has a very different purpose than rehabilitating troubled youths. With their legal options exhausted and their boys' lives on the line, Sloane and Molia hatch an unlikely rescue operation to save the teens.

In his most personal and important case, David Sloane, "the lawyer who does not lose," must fight and win outside of the courtroom-and the law.

New York Times bestselling author Robert Dugoni delivers another gripping legal thriller in his popular David Sloane series. The case? Defending the woman he loves against a charge of murder.

A year after tragedy, attorney David Sloane has returned to work full time. At a black-tie dinner he reconnects with Barclay Reid, opposing counsel in Sloane's most prominent case. Barclay is suffering from her own personal tragedy-the death of her teenage daughter from a drug overdose. In the aftermath, Barclay has begun an intense crusade against the Russian drug traffickers she holds responsible for her daughter's death. Sloane finds himself drawn to this woman, despite their adversarial past.

When Barclay's crusade stalls and the Russian drug dealer turns up dead, she stands accused of murder and Sloane is her chosen defender. Amidst the swirling media frenzy, in his first criminal case, Sloane finds himself once again in harm's way, while mounting evidence suggests Barclay is a woman with many secrets. And may not be quite as innocent-or as in love with Sloane-as she purports.
